Der Mittelstand. BVMW
A strong media voice for entrepreneurs in Bavaria
The BVMW is the largest voluntary business association representing the German Mittelstand. Through an alliance of associations it represents the shared economic, social and policy interests of 32 employer and business organisations speaking for more than 900,000 entrepreneurs. The BVMW maintains 300 offices across Germany, connecting mid-sized companies through more than 800,000 direct contacts a year. It is advised by a political council of senior figures and acts as both partner and critic to policymakers. With over 2,000 events for entrepreneurs each year, the BVMW is a substantial networking platform.
As press spokesperson and political representative for Bavaria, Achim von Michel represented Der Mittelstand. BVMW to journalists and to local and regional politics from 2007. His remit included coordinating and delivering all media relations, organising cross-party political events and active public affairs work from Munich on behalf of the German Mittelstand.
