PR and event support for the German Culture Prize 2025
In August 2025, WORDUP PR was commissioned by the Munich-based Stiftung Kulturförderung with comprehensive PR and event support for the German Culture Prize 2025 – covering the relaunch of the website, the design and handling of all invitation processes, and the accompanying press relations for both prizewinners.
The Stiftung Kulturförderung was founded in 1985 by Munich publisher Roland Wolf. The foundation’s essential objective is to award the German Culture Prize to individuals and institutions, or as start-up funding. The prize is awarded in two categories: one focus lies in the field of culture in all its forms, the other in nature in all its diversity. Well-known prizewinners include Klaus Töpfer, Daniel Barenboim, Dennis L. Meadows, Sir Peter Ustinov, Silvia of Sweden and August Everding.
The ceremony in the ballroom of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich was more than an honour for two deserving prizewinners: it was a statement on the importance of freedom, culture and biodiversity – in front of around 200 invited guests. Herta Müller received the main prize, endowed with 30,000 euros, for her life’s work; Dr. Maria Furtwängler received the honorary prize for her social engagement in the field of biodiversity. The event was held under the patronage of Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder and Minister of State for Culture Dr. Wolfram Weimer.
Media coverage of the German Culture Prize 2025 was stronger than ever before in its tradition since 1985. Two dpa wire reports carried the story prominently into leading media across Germany; München.tv, TV Bayern Live / RTL and the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported in extensive features. Dr. Maria Furtwängler was also a studio guest on the BR Abendschau, where she once again highlighted her environmental and conservation concerns.
With this mandate the agency builds on earlier successful assignments in the field of award ceremonies (Rudolf Diesel Medal) and for foundations – among them the Dr. Robert Pfleger Foundation, the Stiftung Lauterbacher Mühle and the Karl Böhm Foundation for the support of highly gifted musicians.
