The agency began in the 1990s as a technology PR firm in Munich and later established a reputation within the innovation and intellectual property sectors, as well as in the political sphere. Today, its client portfolio encompasses both technology clients (MarTech, FinTech, IT) and listed companies, political actors, foundations, as well as renowned cultural institutions and international social organizations.
WORDUP Managing Director Achim von Michel minored in computer science and therefore possesses the understanding necessary for tech consulting. He served as the press spokesperson for a medium-sized business association for 20 years, thereby cultivating an extensive network of contacts within leading media outlets and trade publications. Having also worked as a journalist himself, he consistently instills in his staff the paramount importance of journalistic standards in PR consulting.
A major focus of WORDUP PR is also the planning and execution of high-caliber events: We possess extensive experience in organizing receptions, anniversaries, conferences, roadshows, and other events for up to approximately 500 participants. Furthermore, WORDUP Managing Director Achim von Michel maintains an extensive regional, national, and international political network, which he regularly leverages in consulting mandates and lobbying projects.
Since its inception, the Munich-based agency has consistently operated on an international level—whether through mandates for the European Patent Office, long-standing engagements from the USA, or collaborations with other European agencies within major PR networks. To date, we have served clients from 15 countries across the PR and events sectors, and we always welcome commissions from abroad, as they broaden our horizons with valuable new insights.
Media relations is a business built heavily on trust and thrives on established relationships. Journalists have specific interests and receive regular updates from us regarding our clients’ projects and plans. For this reason, our PR mandates are—as a general rule—structured for the long term, aiming to firmly and reliably anchor both the brand and the company within the media landscape. Consequently, we undertake ad-hoc projects only in the context of crisis communication or event management assignments.
AI solutions offer tremendous support in press and media relations—whether for research or content creation. It unquestionably accelerates our business, but naturally, it cannot replace an agency’s media network, its nose for relevant topics, messaging and wording tailored specifically to the client, or decades of accumulated experience. Journalists already receive hundreds, if not thousands, of emails every day; an automated agent-driven process will not help ensure that messages reach the right recipients or elicit the desired response.
