  • IAA 2021 goes Munich

    IAA 2021 goes Munich

Just over a year ago, the German automotive industry was not in good shape. Massive challenges such as the increasing trend towards e-mobility, constantly growing pressure from environmental associations and, last but not least, the Corona crisis had presented manufacturers and suppliers with problems that were difficult to solve. In the meantime, however, it looks as if the large German manufacturers have successfully tackled the urgently needed course – and brought about a turnaround.

    Successful e-cars from Germany

The Munich-based manufacturer BMW was able to report record sales in the first quarter of 2021, which even exceeded the sales of the record year 2019. At Daimler, too, sales figures shot up this year. Part of the rise in new registrations is due to the increased demand for electric vehicles, of which German automobile manufacturers now have many different models on offer. Further innovations are expected this year. The Volkswagen Group, which also includes the Audi brand, is now even the European market leader when measured by the number of registrations of all-electric vehicles. The sharp rise in manufacturers’ sales after the crisis year 2020 prove that the industry has positioned itself for the future and knows how to meet customer requirements despite the ongoing pandemic.

    IAA this year in Munich

The change in an entire industry remains exciting to watch. As the most important industry get-together, the International Motor Show (IAA) will take place for the first time in Munich this year from September 7th to 12th – an opportunity for PR activities (Automotive Public Relations) that are intended to achieve the greatest possible impact. It was no coincidence that Munich was chosen, on the contrary – with BMW and Audi in Ingolstadt, two major brands in the industry have their headquarters nearby. Munich also has an exceptionally good transport infrastructure and excellent expertise in organizing large events such as the Oktoberfest. As a technology and strong industrial location, the city is a leading innovation hub in Germany with a uniquely broad mix of industries. The city has thus prevailed over its competitors Berlin and Hamburg.

The Munich PR agency WORDUP PR has extensive experience in PR consulting related to the automotive industry, such as the long-term mandates for the Schlemmer Group (automotive supplier in Aschheim near Munich with more than 3,000 employees) and TWS Partners AG (game theory expert for purchasing negotiations) prove. With extensive technology know-how and many years of experience in event and press work in the context of international trade fairs and conferences, WORDUP is a reliable partner for the mega event in Munich in autumn: the IAA.

  • Quo Vadis, automotive industry?

    Quo Vadis, automotive industry?

The automotive industry is facing massive challenges. The increasing trend towards e-mobility, constantly growing pressure from the environmental lobby and, last but not least, the corona crisis have put manufacturers and suppliers in the face of difficult-to-solve problems and the need to set the course urgently. Our customer TWS Partners AG from Munich – Europe’s leading expert in the field of the economic application of game theory – approaches the topic in a current article in the renowned industry magazine Automobil Industrie. Suppliers specializing in combustion engines in particular are fighting for their livelihood and are endangering their customers’ ability to deliver. According to the experts, a “ramp-down” management based on game theory can provide important impulses here.

With a regular column in the Handelsblatt and a large number of other publications on political and economic topics, TWS Partners has been positioning itself for years as a game theory expert in German and international media with exclusive know-how.

  • Science communication: Interview with Bavaria’s top virologist

Science communication: Interview with Bavaria’s top virologist

Transparent and accurate communication is one of the central tasks of all institutions and organizations involved in the Corona crisis. Citizens want to know where we stand in the fight against the global pandemic, how the next steps will be designed and what they can do themselves to optimally protect themselves and others. In times of social media and targeted campaigns, unfortunately, it is not always just reliable and verifiable information that now reaches us every day in the almost unmanageable flood of corona news. Other pieces of information, on the other hand, describe highly complex relationships and intermediate research results that are often very difficult for the general public to classify.

In his role as head of politics at the Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Bavaria, Achim von Michel and a colleague of the association had a one-hour conversation with Bavaria’s top virologist Professor Dr. Ulrike Protzer. Prof. Protzer (* 1962) works in the field of virus-host interaction of the hepatitis B virus. Her work focuses on the molecular and immunological understanding of virus control. Recently she has also devoted herself to further research into corona viruses. As a member of the expert council of the Bavarian state government on the corona crisis, she is one of the top virologists in Bavaria.

Where does Bavaria stand in the fight against pandemics? Will there be a second wave of infections? Is there a background immunity in the population from previous infections with other corona viruses? What do companies now have to observe in order to optimally implement the hygiene rules? How far will the test capacities be ramped up and what role do companies like Roche Pharma from Penzberg play in this? When will a vaccination be available and is a breakthrough RNA vaccine even conceivable?

BVMW political boss Achim von Michel discussed these and many other questions with the virologist and also discussed the role of specialists in communication for broad sections of society. In his opinion, it is not always understandable why up to six highly competent virologists with partially different information are permanently present in the public media and thus contribute to a certain uncertainty in the population due to the fact that the facts are not always clear. Even if no consensus could be reached in the webinar on the communication strategy – in the end, Professor Protzer convinced the selected audience of medium-sized entrepreneurs with detailed specialist knowledge and a sovereign assessment of the overall situation and a clearly understandable “translation” of this highly complex subject area into easily understandable language.

  • Our answer to COVID-19 is: Live streaming

Our answer to COVID-19 is: Live streaming

Anyone who has planned to hold or attend events in the coming weeks is likely to face major problems at the moment. Not only the major events such as the  Internationale Tourismus Börse (ITB) or the International Handicrafts Fair (IHM) have been canceled due to the increasing spread of the “corona virus”. Smaller events are also increasingly on the brink, as many companies have prohibited their employees from traveling on business or do not want them to take part in events with larger groups of people. The reason is understandable, since a single infected person can lead to the closure of a complete department, small companies can even be faced with a complete closure due to current quarantine requirements. Both have already happened in Germany.

WORDUP PR has been holding “Intellectual Property Management” events for its client  ANAQUA since 2017. Up to 50 IP experts from Germany and neighboring countries meet two to three times a year to find out about current developments in IP management and trends in the industry. Our latest event “The Future of IP Management” is now also affected by the Covid-19 crisis. In consultation with our client, we therefore decided to host the event at its original location in the Munich Künstlerhaus without an audience as live streaming. This gives our customers the opportunity to keep in touch with their stakeholders and to offer an attractive alternative to conveying information – the email mailboxes are already overflowing with event cancellations in a wide variety of regions. In turn, we have the opportunity to offer the exciting lectures and presentations a stylish stage despite the current adversity and to enrich our event series with another attraction: a conference as a live stream with three cameras and professional image / sound direction.

Of course, we also hope that the Covid 19 crisis will come to an end quickly and that we can soon enjoy all the relaxed events, trade fairs and receptions again. Maybe the warmer summer weather gives us a breather, at least until late autumn. Until then, we believe that with live streaming of events we have found a good way to ensure the visibility of our customers at manageable costs.

  • WORDUP PR starts 5G consultancy and magazine

WORDUP PR starts 5G consultancy and magazine

As an experienced technology PR agency, WORDUP Public Relations is of course familiar with the  5G topic and implications. The abbreviation 5G refers to the fifth-generation mobile technology. It should come on the market from 2020 on, thanks to technical advancements deliver significantly more performance than its predecessors and so in the long run, make the vision of the digital gigabit society become reality. In Germany, the next big milestone will be the auction of the additional mobile radio frequencies required for this, which is due for spring 2019. At the same time, the first field tests and pilot tests (for example the Bavarian project 5G Today) are already being carried out to test the new technology, which will enable the creation of a large number of subnets for various services and applications in future through a completely new network infrastructure. So 5G is to become much more than a new, faster mobile radio standard: Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT), applications for autonomous mobility or media services on specific broadcasting networks are realistic application scenarios for the new “super net”. The manufacturers Huawei and Samsung have already announced for the coming year first consumer smartphones, and in Germany, the economy is currently pushing for a speedy and nationwide coverage with the new networks.

WORDUP PR has been advising Bayerischer Rundfunk on matters relating to 5G communication since October 2018. In addition, with the Information Hub 5G | GlobalNEWS the PR agency has just launched an international platform for news related to the topic. If you are interested in the topic, you should definitely subscribe to the newsletter of 5globalnews.com.

WORDUP PR looks back on a long tradition of PR support for new transmission technologies. In the late 1990s, for example, the agency was already introducing the new digital audio broadcasting standard Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), which has since become the global standard under the name Digital Radio / DAB Plus. The agency also supported the Bavarian-wide launch of digital terrestrial television DVB-T in 2005.
